Site Visit (1) : The Tramway ‘Human Threads’
“A large scale, multi-sensory exhibition curated by the Edinburgh-based organisation Artlink and presented in partnership with Tramway.
Conceived as an accessible, creative experience informed by individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), the exhibition takes the form of an interactive landscape which invites audiences on a journey of light, sound, touch and smell. From a huge silk sail which sways softly, to sculpture that translates audio into vibrating pulses, and a playful tower emitting light, smoke and bubbles - each artwork within this gentle fairground offers a new encounter.’’

A deeply somatic and embodied experience with rhythmically looped audio interventions. Melodic and mesmerizing in equal measures.
The works were ‘developed with and informed by the sensory interests and preferences’ of clients and service-users with profound & multiple learning disabilities.
With embedded collaboration placed at the centre of the creative journey the output represents a more visceral and bodily ‘sensorial’ journey than a standard wall-based exhibition, and with bean-bags and a vibrating floor section, the space invites the end-user to experience the works from different heights and changing bodily postures.
